THE LEGACY
Anne R. Standfield, born on May 31, 1956, was the sixth child out ten born to the parentage of Willie B. Adams and Ruthie Mae Adams. Anne had the most vibrant smile and was always willing to help others, but her voice was Anne’s pure gift from above. She had a way about herself that would touch the lives of many just through singing. She was nicknamed “Songbird” by her mother as she would always sing throughout the house on any day.
Anne attended high school at W. T. White. Although she had a passion for music, she also loved volleyball, baseball and horseback riding. After graduating high school in 1973, she pursued music with everything within her.
Anne was raised in church beginning at Lighthouse Church of God In Christ under the Late Superintendent Edward Calloway. Later on, She attended Galilee Church of God In Christ under the Late Superintendent Rabion Hunter and was saved at an early age of 11. She served in numerous capacities within the music department as the choir president, both locally and within the district. In the year of June 2000, she was ordained as a Licensed Evangelist by Apostle Cherian Chacka.
On October 26, 1974, Anne became one with Lewis Stevenson Standfield in marriage. They shared many first memories throughout many years and to their union they had four beautiful daughters: LaKesia, Stephanie, Tiffany and Brianna.
Often times, Anne would be apart of local concerts held at the Bronco Bowl opening up for great legends, such as her favorite icon, Shirley Caesar. She would sing loud and boldly in front of small, medium or large size crowds. It was her joy to have a microphone in her hand. Anne was the master Mistress of Ceremony for numerous churches. She would open up the service with some grand “run-on” congregational songs and the service would take off from there.
It was no doubt that Anne was a hard worker to the core in and out of the church. She would work from sun up til sun down. She was always willing to help others in any type of way. She was blessed to be a resident assistant/sitter with many patients at The Villages of Dallas Home Healthcare in Dallas, TX. They would have her to sing for the residents and they loved her voice to the highest.
Anne was indeed was a giver to the heart from helping others financially to assisting people with housing. She was a peculiar individual, always willing to go the extra mile for someone else.
On Thursday, November 1, 2018, our love entered eternal rest while she was attending church. Even after getting off of work that night, she pressed her way to the house of God, not knowing she was at the right place at the right time. She was in the safety of the saints as the Lord called her home to receive her eternal reward.
